help, new build doesnt work...

hey guys, im having problems with my first build... i have finished putting everything into the case and plugged in all the wires and what not, hooked it up to a monitor, and then nothing happens... everything in the case turns on, but the monitor says 'no signal detected,' i tried with another monitor and its like nothing is even hooked up to it... where is the problem here? could i have a bad vid card or motherboard?

i have a evga 7800gt and asus A8N-SLI premium motherboard..
 
As I tell everyone, try removing everything you can(just leave 1 stick of RAM and video, no drives) See if it'll work like that.

Check for shorts. Be sure the motherboard isn't being grounded to the case.

Try another power supply. Those tend to be a major problem today.

Just a few things to get you started. The list can go on and on with what worth checking.
