Help on Asus K8N-E Deluxe motherboard

Hi All,

I just recieved my motherboard today. When I finished installed everything, I tried to turn on my computer and see how my new baby rocks... but unfortunately, it WON'T WORK!!!! The fans and lights are on for not more than a second and they turn off automatically. I tried the unpluging and repluging techniques with every possible connectors, but the same problem keeps occur. Finally, I unplug everything (as well as the CPU) and connect the motherboard with the power supply and the power switch from the case ONLY. I hope this time would work, but i got the same bad result, the power is on for not more than a second and it shuts down. I try on my friend's case to see if the problem is on my power supply, but I got the same problem. I wonder if I did anything wrong or if anything else I could do before I return the item back. Please help and I'll greatly appreciate.

It seems a lot of people enounter this with the K8V ... something I might email them about sometime if I get around to it.

1. Even in ideal situations the system wont stay on becasue of a lack of CPU/RAM (more so the CPU)
2. When you "just have the board lying there", connected and all ... does the power LED thingy light?
3. What rev of the K8V do you have? (look at your mobo its stamped there)
4. I assume you've plugged in the 12V additional P4 rail into the mobo?

My reccomendation (if you're not up for some problem solving), is to swap for a MSI K8N Neo Platinum (nForce3-250) board .. you'll get miles further with that board on ur Socket754 than you will with the K8T800

bad ram, maybe!
or your MB really screw up!
You get awful excited over (potentially) dead parts ;)

Could be a short on the mobo, or a bad PSU. If you feel up to it open the PSU and see if there is a blown fuse (you will void warrenty if you open it). Also check that you don't have any exposed wires touching the board (or any loose screws), they can also cause a short which may cause this.
