Help on Buying a new PC v.Can't Build One

Hello,

I am planning on spending 1000-1200$ on a new PC. I am clueless when it comes to building computers. What I have come down to is either a Dell XPS 420 (8 gig ram, 1 TB hardrive) or something else. I came across this website http://www.page.magicmicro.com/?gclid=CJLq1bT9vJcCFQOeFQodlSAhTA . Besides this I checked out the advertisement on this site (cyberpowerpc) - looks to be the same type of thing ... Are these "barebones" PC's any good? These don't come with all the "shitware" that the dell would does it? It seems I am able to get a much better specs, etc. by customizing these barebones ones rather than the dell. Please enlighten me! I won't really be gaming but if anything I would want to run some Valve games, such as TF2, Half Life 2 and what not.

Thanks

yes cyberpower would be much better than dell in terms of bang for the bang. but if you really want to get a bang for the buck and learn something at the same time....build the comp yourself. it is also much more satisfying in the end to walk into the room look at your desktop and say i built that :)

but a pain when you fail... ide recomend reading up on building guides befor you try it,

But... hes right, you realy should try to build your own
