Help on specs; TIGHT ON MONEY

So I've been looking into buying a laptop for video editing because the dinosaur family computer isn't cutting it. I am also a gamer, and if I wanted to I would also like to play an occasional game or two with graphic settings around medium. What do you guys suggest spec wise? If there is a laptop that comes to mind please keep in mind that I only have a summer job planned and will be tight on money. Thanks!

What specs is your desktop? The cost/performance ratio is higher on that side, unless you have another requirement for it being a laptop.

Also, what is your budget or definition of 'tight on money' (ie, what do we have to work with here?)

the desktop is completely dated and I feel like it would be alot less of a hassle trying to upgrade it. plus having a laptop would help out because I tend to travel a lot. when I say tight on money, I was thinking as cheap as possible. if there is a laptop that fits my needs and is as cheap as possible I will find someway to purchase it no matter what.
