Help out a fellow gamer! 1500/256 vs 9.9mps/256. Should I use my "wad" for cable?

Hello all

I live in Australia and don't have the super upload speeds that perhaps a lot of American users are used to. Whether it be standard ADSL or cable, the maximum upload speed is 256kps. ADSL2 is available but only in a few areas.

I am looking for a connection that is optimal for gaming and the best on offer is either a 1500/256 dsl connection or a cable up to 9.9mps/256. A friend has invited me to move in together and the ONLY thing that attracts me to that place is the connection (the cable one).. hehe. I just can't make up my mind.

The difference in download speed is huge between the 2 connections but I know the upload speeds have a lot to do with it too. Anyone have any advice? I don't mind slower video/music downloads of websites etc. This is mainly for gaming.

It's just that cable sounds so... cool. It's a CABLE. As opposed to a telephone line. So what can a gamer do? Anyone able to help?

Thanks in advance.

I would go with cable since cable is usually faster than DSL. The only problem with cable is that your speed depends on how much bandwidth your neighbors are using as well since sometimes whole neighborhood will share one coaxial cable line. This all depends on how developed your cable network is in the area (like if it is a fiber network).
