I would love if someone could help me make a decison on a gaming laptop. Ive been to a few websites to build my own and am just stuck on a decison and could really use come help. Heres a little about what Id be using thec omputer for.

-High graphics gaming (EX. World of Warcraft, Star Wars the Old Republic, All points Buliten, Call of Duty etc...)
-Online Chatting such as skype ventrilo programs like that
-Watching movies blue ray and regular
-other carious simple tasks such as word and powerpoint

Im looking for a laptop that can run these games fast and on high graphics without the choppyness or other griefs felt by people running these on low grade computers. If anyone can help me choose or has ideas on things i should add or change i would really apprieciate it.

is it worth paying 300 more dollars to upgrade from the

Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM (2.3~3.3GHz) w/6M L3 Cache - 4 Cores - 8 Threads

to the

Intel® Core™ i7-3720QM (2.6~3.6GHz) w/6M L3 Cache - 4 Cores - 8 Threads

MSI is a better brand. Really if you are intent on a gaming laptop I would stay with Sager or MSI over anything else.

okay thanks and yeah i want a laptop because i am traveling alot and I want a laptop that has the capabilities to game as a desktop with a budget of around $2000 cause right now im on a 400 dollar basic desktop freezes up if i go even slightly high on graphics

simply, you are never going to find that. Top end graphics from laptops will only be as good as lower end cards from desktops and the CPU will never keep up either. The HD6990m for example is only as good as the desktop HD6870, and the GTX580m is the desktop 560ti.

A 2000 desktop would kick the arse of a 4000 laptop at gaming.

well i got a desktop with

Processor: AMD Athlon II x2 215 Processor 2.70GHz max
RAM: 4g
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series

so for my case I think Ill see improvement with it anyways

Well, you said you wanted a laptop that could game like a $2000 desktop. At that level you have an Overclocked 2500k and GTX680s. You will not match that in laptops without SLI GTX680m. And I do not think anyone is doing that yet.

You can get a pretty powerful laptop though. And it will game okay, but it will eat your battery in no time flat.
I am not saying that you need a desktop, I am saying you need to lower your expectations of the gaming laptops.

I am as well. Alienware M18x does SLI graphics I think, but I am not sure. I have an Alienware M17x (cost me about 8 thousand once I played around with all the specs). I am getting my doctorate in CS so I needed something that could run multiple graphic heavy programs all at once. Let us know what you choose!
