I want to transfer DVD's (movies, series etc. shop bought) to my external hard drive via PC. I understand this is not straightforward and requires some software. Any suggestions please? Has anyone got a link to any software I could use please?

anyways as for your question, no you don't require special software. you only need to plug in your external, and copy away...BUT dvd's/movies with protection is something else.
Thanks Patrickv, just checked out rules. It was fine when downloading MP3's etc. but movies seem to be protected. I was hoping to be able to load all my dvd's to my laptop / backed up to hard drive to be able to watch them on the move. Thanks for coming back to me.
