Hello thank you for reading this thread. I have recently bought a computer wich i would like to use to play games like BF3 or Skyrim when they are released. The only problem is is that i dont know if the pc ive bought is qualified for these games.

I have listed some of the hardware below:

>> Amd Phenom II X4 2.8ghz
>> 4GB RAM
>> 500GB Hdd
>> Sapphire Ati Radeon 4870 1GB
>> DVD-RW 16x
>> Conceptronic 300MBPS Wifi Networkcard
>> Asus m3a78 Motherboard (Crossfire)
>> Windows Vista Business
>> 2 coolelements

Im looking forward to your responses. Thx in advance :)

That's a decent system, the video card is a little outdated (no DirectX11 which Skyrim and BF3 will have, I believe) and there's no mention of a power supply. What brand and speed of RAM is it?

It won't max out any of those games at Full HD but it will be able to play them at decent settings.
BF3 might be medium or lower.(Assuming Full HD,maybe higher at lower resolutions)

Also the HD4870 is a pretty power hungry card so you PSU should be of good quality to be able to handle that card.

So what you guys are saying is that if i upgrade my videocard im good to go and play it on medium-high settings? Or are there other things i should upgrade (within reason please because i dont feel like replacing ALL parts :D)

Yes a better GPU would let you play games at medium high settings. But Depends which PSU you have?
I wouldn't recommend a new GPU on a bad quality PSU.

I actually dont know i will check anyways thx for replying so soon :)

Like said above, it would help to know what power supply it has. And plus maybe overclocking the CPU alitle, A couple 100 mhz would not hurt. But you would need a good aftermarket CPU cooler to go any higher.

Dang, that's some old school stuff right there. You sure you wanna build a new rig with parts that dated? The cpu and motherboard are good, but i'd get a 6xxx series card and a decent power supply. Those old cards need more cooling and aren't compatible with all games you'll eventually want to play. Does amd even make driver releases for 4870's anymore?

They even still make drivers for my AGP 4670.
