Help Please, Monitor Probs, Doing my head in!!

Right this is the situation, when I switch on the computer starts fine until I get to the Windows XP Screen (the one with loading bar across the bottom) then the monitor just switches off. Comes up with No Signal. The light on the computer just stays on as though its trying to do something.

Will eventually come on but after numerous restarts. But its getting worse, needing more and more restarts. Have tried the monior on my laptop and it works fine, so is this a video card problem?? Really need help with this is doing my head in!!

it could be a videocard problem. it may be a video ram failure which sometimes happens also could be a gpu problem.

windows loads the video ram in the screen with the loading bar
this may be a failure.

there are complicated ways to solve if its a gpu problem.
like a bad pipe causing restart. i forget the program.
but there is one where you can open pipes on your video card. im not sure if you can cloes them again though.

Cheers for the reply, but to be honest yo have only just confussed me! LOL. It seems to be getting worse, i cant even get access anymore. Just keeps knocking off, it will get to certain points. Totally random. Will knock off at boot, or at the desktop, or at the login screen. Not happy about it!
