Hello, this may or may not be a stupid question, I have no idea.
So, I live in philly, and as some may know there is free wireless internet available through out the whole city, called "Philadelphia Wireless". Now I have a small netbook that I can use to access the internet, but I was wondering if it was possible to set up a reciever of some kind using a router with custom firmware, ive been reading about ddr somthing or other? but set it up so that i can recieve the signal and then hardwire it to my desktop and xbox 360. anybody know what im talking about and can help? it would be amazing if you guys could hook me up, would save me a lot of money. Cheers!

Hi,

If you use a usb wireless connector on your netbook you could then hard wire the ethernet to a hub that then has your desktop and 360 wired into hub, then turn internet sharing on the netbook on and you should be on the right track, cant say i have tried this though as we dont have nay free internet here in the uk.

I don't think that's what Philly Wireless was intended for lol, but I'm not sure that it's possible. Nothing I've ever had could do that. A router that acts as a wireless adapter too, seems like something that should have been made but I think I ran into a similar situation with the idea of using the PSP like that since it could pick up wifi and found that there's nothing like that. If you find it though, that would be sweet.

  • Connect to the WiFi with your laptop
  • Run and Ethernet cable from your laptop to your XBox
  • My Network Places>"View Network Connections"
  • Highlight both connections
  • Right Click>"Bridge Connections"
You should be good to go. You could also get a wireless adapter for your 360. I got one and I love it.
