Help please

I have a asus A7V266-MX motherboard that uses soundmax integrated audio. I have had sound and speakers working fine, then tonight i wanted to use a microphone i hooked up a new one and no one could hear me on vent. Finally i tried installing a new soundmax software and it kept failing so no driver could be found.

so i unistalled my audio controller and did this and that and blah blah and now it says everything is working fine, drivers are installed but now i have no sound at all

please help

i disabled, re enabled soundmax integrated audio, tried updating driver several times from ones i have downloaded says cant find a better match. i have uninstalled reinstalled. everything says working properly, i just downloaded soundmax.exe driver and at the end keeps failing saying driver not found please reboot and try again... im so lost

You can first try doing a system restore back to when your sound was working correctly or you can uninstall whatever is listed in device manager for your sound and then reboot computer and let windows reinstall it automatically.
