So i've been writing on this forum about a month ago asking what pc should i get and i finally got one.. I played on it for 2 months, everything was great and then i downloaded counter strike and i wanted to change something in the settings. So when i clicked apply the game turned off, i couldnt turn the game back on and my screen zoomed in and it was huge. I wanted to try and change the resolution. I changed to another resolution clicked apply and a black screen came up.. I was really stupid and panicked. Thought something went wrong and turned off the pc which was a really bad idea. I turned the computer back on, it got to the part where in windows 8 there is a loading screen, after that the screen went black again with no signal on my tv. Im using an lg full hd tv as my monitor. I just had a hdmi cable plugged into both and everything worked fine. I can boot into safe mode. Tried to change the resolution i couldnt because for some reason there is only 1 screen resolution to select. I think windows 8 can not detect my monitor because fordisplay i have 1 choice and that is other... Any suggestions on what i can do? Please help me im really annoyed because ive been sitting here like a retard trying to figure out whats wrong for ages.

firstly run sfc /scannow by running the pc in safe mode with command prompt and type that command in and hit enter, this is just to check there's no bad drivers etc when its trying to load into windows itself, this will scan all important windows files and replace if any are corrupted.

try with a different monitor also just to see if the monitor may be the problem.

if you have a gpu and integrated graphics chip. plug it from the gpu into the integrated motherboard hdmi slot and see if its the same.

does it also come up with "no signal" on screen, or just black?

I ran the scan in safety mode and this is what came up: windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the cbs.log windir\logs\cbs\cbs.log. For example c:windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios.. What should i do now?

So your saying you changed the resolution in the game itself? When booting go into advanced startup options, then select Enable low resolution video. After windows boots change your resolution and refresh rate to what ever you use normally .

Thanks man.. I went into the low screen resolution thing in advanced settings and I changed a few things in the options and i've finally got it. But i just have one problem my screen is still huge. I cant change the resolution because the option is shaded and i cant change. The resolution is 1920x1080 and it says recommended in brackets on the side so why is the screen so big?

Thank You so much for helping.
