I have a dell computer that has been working fine for the last year, but yesterday I tried to start it and the dell logo comes up followed by the windows logo (all standard ops) but the it goes to the screen that says "Something caused the windows to be stopped improperly powere loss, etc. etc. and gives you the option to start in safe mode, safe mode with networking and two others I believe. Anyway it wont let me start in any mode it just keeps going through the cycle I described above. I need to get some data off of it before I just try to reformat it but I dont know how. Any Ideas????

Well, the problem you are having sounds to me like a PSU issue...but as for getting your data off...you could try connecting your primary HDD to another computer, and moving all the files over...

I tried that as well, I went out and purchased an external hard drive enclosure but it just locked up both of the computers I tried to it on. I thought maybe I just needed the drivers but apparently XP autoinstalls drivers for USB mass storage devices. I hate to loose the data on there, especially if its not the hard drive

ok take out the hard drive and plug it into a differente computer as master and boot with the hard drive you took out and copy you data to a CD or webserver.

I wouldn't trust the drivers XP autoinstalls for "USB Mass Storage Devices"...I got the same thing when I pluged in my iPod, etc. To be sure, I'd download the latest drivers from the mfg's website and check it again.
