I have an acer aspire 5536 and 2 days ago i decided to try out multi monitors as it will make my work easier.
problem is as i was carrying everything upstairs i dropped my laptop and broke the screen.- i used one external monitor and everything seems to be working fine on the laptop(so far).
Anyways my problem is i need 3 screens to work independently(not including the broken laptop screen) But when i try to set 3 screens i get the same display on all the 3 screens. i.e. they dont work independently.
FYI- am using vga splitters

i tried changing the laptop display setting by extending the desktop to the monitor. but that only gets me the same screen on all 3 screens- i.e. they are not independent.

so my question is, is there a way i can get all 3 screens to work independently bearing in mind that the laptop screen is broken. something i can buy to get it to work or do i just need to buy a new computer.

will appreciate any advice

What you are doing now is splitting 1 signal into many, not many different signals into 1 (for each monitor).

Think of it like having a water pipe. What you are doing now is using a pipe that splits off - at the end you are getting the same water from the same pipe from each end. What you want is to have another ouput, another water source, then you can have 1 pipe in each, each pouring out different water from a different source.

You can (I think, don't quote me on this) get a splitter that will allow you to do it, but you can not use each monitor simultaneously, you would have to use each one a time separately, and use the switch to swap between the monitors as and when you needed.

Your other option would be to get a USB to VGA adapter, but they can be pretty pricey, and you would need 2 of them
