help pls..

the fact that its a DVD drive......no jkjk, what kind of lag are you talking about? how do yuou know its the drive?

Scratched disc?

If your talking about DVD playback, it may be your processor isn't strong enough. Thats how it was in my old Dimension 2100 w/ a 1.0 Ghz celeron.

Yet I had an old Omnibook for a while with a P3 and it had beautiful playback. It was weird.
 
im very sure it's my drive because whenever i insert a cd or dvd..it will make my computer lag. I'm using a samsung super writemaster, 300gb HDD, intel core 2 duo 2.13ghz, 7600GT, MSI p965 neo motherboard. so i dun think it's my pc problem. whenever i install games or play movies, it just lag badly. but wen i play songs using winamp is smooth but wen i play it using window media player, it juz create lag..
 
then its not your DVD drive that is the problem, its something else. if you can listen to a CD on one program fine, but not on another, something else is causing a problem. your DVD drive has no capability to distinguish between one program and another
 
any suggestion on wat is causing the lag? i tried several different drives and it's all the same. Nothing seems to change the lagness. I reformatted my pc and double checked the cables and it doest seem to be runing properly.. =X
 
eh? psu means my electrical supply rite? i ever asked my computer supplier they say it isnt the problem..well lemme juz give u my computer specs so u can tell if itz reli my electrical supply

i have a 230v electrical supply..samsung super writemaster, 300gb HDD, intel core 2 duo 2.13ghz, 7600GT, MSI p965 neo motherboard, 3gb ddr2 corsair 667mhz, 2 fans, 1 floppy drive and a x-fi sound card
 
230V isn't very helpful I'm afraid, we need to know the rated wattage of the device, it'll be on a sticker somewhere on it.
 
Have you looked in your Device Manager to see what mode its running in. If its a Sata it should be Serial ATA 1.5, if its a IDE it should be around UDMA 2

definetly not the cd drive, r u running other applications?
 
PabloTeK..If it's my power supply problem, i'm going to "screw" my dealer. I asked if it's my power supply and he say it doesn't matter

and StrangleHold, im having problem with my disk drive not my hard drive lol =P. And my dvd/cd-rom drives has "TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH-202J"
