Help port forwarding?

I am having trouble forwarding a port for the use with utorrent. I have setup a port number in UT, and followed portforward.com to setup the port on my router, with static lan IP. However, when I run the portforward check on UT it says the port is closed. I can still get connections, but they run incredibly slow, (.1kb/s - 2kb/s).

Thanks for any help.

As long as you have the port forwarding on in the router, and the specific port is forwarded to your correct LOCAL ip address then it is working. Also, you should remember that everytime you start your pc you might get a new local ip address...

Also, the donwload speeds on the torrents can only go as fast as someone can upload...

Okay, well Im quite sure its setup correctly than, in the router the direction say to setup under vitraul server and always allow. Is there anyway to verify the port is open, like the way you can ping addresses?

The only other things I would suggest are:

1) to make sure that in your router configuration that you have TCP and UDP enabled on the forwarded port.

2) in uTorrent, under Options -> Preferences -> Connection, make sure you...

-uncheck Randomize port each time uTorrent starts
-check Enable uPnP port mapping
-check Enable NAT-PMP port mapping
-check Add uTorrent to Windows Firewall exceptions

I'm not sure if you already have these things done, but looking at my configuration these are things I have and it works perfectly, and when I have uTorrent check the port it comes back as open. Good luck.

Thanks munky. I have all those options specified except the upnp mapping because I think the settings under portforward.com said not to, but either way, it still tells me the port is closed. I am getting a few speeds as high as about 45 kb/s occasionally.
