HELP!!! Prob with MCAFEE

Hey guys, i was wondering if you could help me out with this recent prob I kept facing. Its abt how Mcafee loads at startup. Wen I start the PC, quite apparently, the Mcafee logo in the desktop is at first red, then turns black, saying that VirusScan is disabled. However, wen I go to the Mcafee Security Centre, it shows that VirusScan is active and protecting. I can also scan for viruses with it. So why does the icon stay black and disabled from startup???

Note: When I right click the black icon and go under Anti Virus, NOTHING happens and the menu must be exited by clicking somewhere else on the screen.

Thanks guys

Is it a full version?
Does it stay black like that the whole time? Or will it eventually change later on to green or red or whatever color it is.

With that last note you put, it could be a faulty install. Is it a recent program or have you been using it for a while then it just happened?

Yes it is a full version. Also, I ve tried reinstalling; apparently, it worked fine for a while until now. I m suspecting that a new virus scan update that it would ve installed (since it is bak to basic again) might be dodgy and that wen mcafee releases a new update, the prob might be fixed. But however, it is an ongoing problem and I hope you guys could help me out before that.

N.B. It stays black forever and CANNOT be changed back to Red under any circumstances becoz the virus scan menu on the letter fails to function.

I had exactly the same problem about 6-8 months ago. Couldnt get a resolution from anyone or anywhere, including mcAfee.

So i switched anti-virus programs, now using Kaspersky and havent had a virus or any troubles since.

The Wonders if not Blonders with McAfee. With that much of a headache you may want to look at some better and less intrusive antivirus utilities. One that gets better reviews and doesn't cost anything is Grisoft's AVG 7.1 Free Edition ready for download at any time and has regular updates. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
