Help! Problem with Asus X71Q and battery

Hey guys,

Newbie here.
I was hoping someone on here would be able to lend a helping hand.
Recently I bought a new battery for my Asus X71Q laptop.
Ever since installing it I’ve had a few issues.

-Even though my battery is 100% full, it won’t stop charging.
-Whenever I’m not working from my adapter and the battery goes down to about 50% the computer tells me to connect the laptop to the adapter because I "only" have 1 and a half hour of power remaining. Which is true, but weird.
-Even though my battery is fully charged I can only get the laptop to start up when connected to my adapter. But then as soon as it’s running I can unplug it and it runs normally.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for any help!

Yeah, you probably bought a cheap replacement battery and didn't go back to Asus for a genuine replacement battery. You'll see issues like this when you don't use a genuine manufacturer replacement battery.

Hey johnb35, thanks for your reply.
I did indeed buy a cheap replacement battery. Guess I should've known better.
Glad to know that there isn't anything wrong with the laptop itself.
Guess I should contact the seller I bought the battery from.
