Help regarding a dropped laptop. Weird Case.

My genius friend recently dropped my laptop from the bed onto a hardwood floor. It doesn't seem to have caused any physical damage but there's some weird things going on with how the laptop works.

I say weird because most of the general advice I found on problems when a laptop is dropped described more cut and dry, or easy to define problems. Mine doesn't seem to fit with any of this, and my technical knowledge isn't exactly great.

When I switch on the laptop, everything seems to be fine but when I try to load up my own, or any other profile on the computer it loads the desktop screen but it's unusable. I can, however, get into the Guest account and apart from a few random errors here and there and possibly slower than usual performance, it seems to work perfectly.

Can anyone shed some light on what may be wrong or how complicated this could be to fix? I'm just making the transfer over to a new job so I'd rather not pay out money to have it looked at unless it's necessary.

I appreciate any comments or opinions you might have.

^ Most likely that's your problem. Even if it's not, you should backup all your important data now as there's a fairly high possibility of mechanical components like HDDs failing as a result of something like this happening. Even though laptop HDDs are able of taking much more bumping around than their desktop counterparts, I'd rather play it safe.

the arm on the hard drive probably scratched one of the platters, i know some laptops can pull the arm back in before it hits, but i doubt yours came equipped like that
