Help Setting Up Modem/Router

My brother ordered High Speed Internet Service [DSL] from AT&T about two weeks ago. They shipped him a modem, and he had a router already. The service IS ACTIVATED. The modem is set up, and I receive internet signal and can browse when plugged into it. I plugged in the router today, and loaded the driver/installation CD. It said installation completed/configuration successful. However, I can't receive internet signal unless I am plugged up to the router via ethernet cable. Is there anything I can do? I would obviously like to receive a wireless signal rather than be plugged in to receive internet.

Specs:
Modem: Motorola 2210-002-M022
Router: Cisco-Linksys WRT610N
Laptop: IBM ThinkPad T-41 running XP.

Yeah, give us a bit more than 9 minutes to answer though please.

Not being from your side of the pond, I am unsure of the setup but can have a go.

Rather than having the modem plugged in, replace it with the router.

Open a browser and type the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1 for example).

Enter the username/password (possibly Admin/Password).

Configure the router to your ISP details.

Surf the net.

Sorry to rush that bump, I'm just so stressed out with this thing. Been working with it for way too long. I can connect to the network, I just can't get on the internet.

DO NOT USE THE SETUP CD, YOU WILL NEVER GET IT TO WORK THAT WAY.

The problem you are having is that the router has the defualt internal ip address of 192.168.1.1 which conflicts with the type of modem you have, trust me on this. I've set up a few trying to figure out whats going on. To fix this, you need to connect to the router and change its internal IP address to 192.168.1.2. Then reboot the modem and router and you should get internet.
