Help setting up my Dual-Screen system

I just got my second monitor today , but I want some tips for setting it up, When I had one monitor I used the HDMI port to connect it. Should I plug in the other monitor into my second gpu's HDMI port, or plug both of them into my first card's pair of DVI ports? After that, how do I go about setting it up in windows?

Is the other monitor HDMI? If so, plug it into the other HDMI port on the GPU.

As far as setting it up in Windows is concerned, if you're using Windows 7 everything should be done for you, but in XP and Vista you may need to make sure you extend the display onto the second monitor.

you hook it up, and go to screen resolution via right click on the desktop and press 'detect displays'
