Help - slow internet

i have a problem, i usually get a bandwidth reading of about 900Kb/s but when i run msn messenger and xfire i only get 115Kb/s. i have been running these programs for ages with this internet (even with my old one 128Kb/s) and they have been fine, but now they decide they want to clog up my internet.

could anyone tell me why this is, or if there is a way to fix it?

I guess they or something else is now also accessing the internet for other reasons. I would advise you to run some kinda anti-spyware software.

I run them 2 same programs regular and it barley takes any bandwith, I would recommend you have 2-3 spyware programs scan you whole computer. Do this in safe mode by pressing f8 on boot and let them run there full scan. Also disable system restore and then re-enable it when you have done you scan. You can disable system resotore in control panel, then select system.

also do a full virus scan, and if after that you still have a problem do a hijackthis log and post it in the secutriy section of this forum and one of these nice people will advise you further
