Im relatively new to this so I have a question hopefully somebody can help me out with. The motherboard on my desktop is bad so I went out and purchased a new desktop along with an external hard drive to backup files. There are files on my old desktop's hard drive that I would like to get though. So my question is how do I do a data transfer from my old hard drive to an external hard drive that I just recently purchased?

Either put the old drive in the new computer and back up that way or get an adapter like this.
