I have just got a sony vaio netbook, it has a 1.66ghz processor and 1gb ram, it has windows 7 on and is running painfully slow, so I attempted to put windows xp on, as it has no cd drive I have had to get it on a micro sd card, when I try to boot from this device all I get is a black screen with a blinking cursor, anyone got any ideas for resolving this problem, thanks

Install Windows XP from USB Or SD Card is not a simple task. It require a lot of computer knowledge and twist as Windows XP doesn't support boot from USB or SD cards natively.
You better bet is to get an external USB cd-dvd rom or borrow one. The external drive is very handy when you don't have one in your netbook.
Cheers.

cheers

Hi thanks for the reply, I was considering buying one of them, I have found them for around £15, I never normally use laptops/netbooks as they frustrate me, I have one of each as I can use it when my girlfriend/daughter has the t.v. Will definately buy a usb dvd drive now, was worrying about wasting my money and it still not working

thanks, I have never heard of this program, I tried it, however it didn't work, the program did say some netbooks don't support boot from usb though, must be a way though as they must have got the operating system on some how

someone earlier in the post suggested the usb dvd drive, not got round to buying one yet, just exhausting a few more options at the minute, I have found a program called petousb that claims to make it usb xp bootable, I have been using a card reader with a micro sd card wondering if that might be part of the problem as the program doesn't seem to recognise it
