help troubleshooting

just installed a new motherboard and cpu in my computer and it powers begins to power on but does not display anything the fans just run its a amd phenom x4 2.4 ghz with a new gigabyte ma785gm-us2h i don t believe it is the graqoics cards because i tried the on boARD vga port and my graphic card vga ports. Front LED lights are not working if that means anything . hard drive activity light displays nothing when on . if i left out any details just ask thank you for the help
 
troiubleshooted some more by buying a better powersupply and fixed jumpers , I get front leds working and red light light to power up , still no hard drive activity. i think i narrowed it down to a bad cpu or motherboard how do i figure out which one , also bios still does not display . HELP PLEASE
 
Does the hard drive even spin up? Did you attach the standoffs to the case before attaching the motherboard? If not, its probably shorting out somewhere.
