I just got dota 2 beta and on steam it gave you an option to udpate my amd graphics card. I clicked it and while it was updating, it crashed and showed the blow screen of death. After the computer restarted it said it can't detect the ati/amd graphics card. I tried install and ati catalyst and the "automatically identify and update" thing but it doesn't work. Can anyone please help?

edit 2- ok so my sound doesn't work either... please help

We would need to know what video card you have and what version of 7 are you using, 32 or 64 bit?

i belive it's raedon hd 5770 and windows 64. I'm not 100% sure if it's 5770 but it's def a 5000's series. Also my sound stopped working too which is totally mind boggling. How can a failed graphics update mess up my sound...

edit-http://imgur.com/PypPM it said my sound is not plugged in?

Are you using a hdmi cable to your monitor/tv? If so, then you most likely had your sound set for hdmi.

If you have the 5770 here is your correct driver.

And if you are using an hdmi cable then here is your sound driver.

http://www.realtek.cz/realtek-download.php?realtek=ATIHDMI&system=3

Not sure why ati isn't listing the driver on their site anymore.

I already tried the first link. it doesn't do anything for me...

When i try the first link this happens http://imgur.com/IRfTd

I would say do a system restore to before you did the update and everything should be back to normal. Don't allow applications to update your drivers.

how do i do a system restore?

edit- ok i googled it but the only system backup i have is the time after i did the failed drivers update

What operating system do you have? Go into device manager and look under display adapters and see what is listed and also under sound, any yellow question marks?

Can't believe I asked you what OS you had again. I'm tired. So you only have one restore point? At this point, go into add/remove programs and uninstall the ati drivers and reboot. Then try installing them again.

yeah i tried it and nothing is working...uninstalled and reinstalled it and it shows up the same sign. I still don't get why the sound isn't working. mind bogglign stuff.

You never did tell me how you have the sound hooked up. Are you using the hdmi cable or using the onboard audio. Check to make sure the audio output is selected correctly.

it's through hdmi and i have hd realtek hd audio manager to sort all that out. Would reinstalling windows fix this? Because that doesn't erase any stuff , it's different from computer reformatting?

Reinstalling the OS or repairing the OS? Reinstalling will delete your existing data. And I doubt doing a repair will solve the issue.

You can try booting to the windows 7 install dvd and choose to repair your OS. But this doesn't seem like a situation that it would repair it. And it seems there is an issue with windows 7 deleting its restore points after being rebooted. Not sure if there is a fix for that or not.
