hey guys,
I am looking to upgrade my graphics card, but i know very little about what cards I could even upgrade to that would work with my computer. I do know that the card i have now is an ATI Radeon HD 5450, also from my research I think it fits a 2.1x 16 express port, which i assume may limit my choices. That being said, i am looking for a card that has better graphics and that supports the use of multiple monitors and am on a budget of around 250 to 300 us dollars.
Thanks for your help!

Hi and welcome to CoFo!

Couple things we need to know.

1. Power Supply - this determines how much power your computer can output to its components. Higher end video card need more juice. Open up the side of the computer and it should say somewhere on the power supply its wattage, brand, and model number. Share all of those with us.

2. Rest of your specs to ensure you won't have a bottleneck

3. Case to ensure whatever card we pick will fit.

my power supply shows a max continuous flow of 460 watts.

my case is a standard dell studio xps 7100 case

the rest of my specs are as follows.

amd phenom 2 6 core processor ~ 2.6GHz

8 gigs of ram

I also have a 1TB hard drive but know that doesn't deal much with the speed or graphics. I know about computers to the extent that i know what a good computer should have as far as numbers go, but not enough to know what type of numbers i can put there, if that makes any since :)

just two monitors.

and mostly what i do is game and a bit of architecture including 3d. My card can perform these tasks, but usually only on lower settings.

well they do both exist. is the 3.0 express slot compatible with my motherboard? since my current one is the 2.1 express slot?
