HELP!! used desktop?

i am looking to purchase a used desktop computer to attempt a rebuild. if i start from the ground up. which is actually what i want to do. what are all the parts needed? hard drive, ram, etc.

On board graphics or GPU
RAM
Processor
Operating System
Power Supply
 
personally id just buy used parts from ebay and put those together

easier, better performance, and truly does what you want it to do at any price, without having to work off a crappy prebuilt
 
ok ive decided i will be building my own computer. ive never built one or really worked on computers much but i do know a little about computers themselves. so if im going to start what should i buy first because this will be a buy as you get money project. buy the case first?
 
dont do a buy as you get money, its much less efficient. just build up a 1000 budget and end of april you can build a nice computer (end of april is the intel price cuts and many more graphics cards will be released). just wait because your money will get you much farther then. so build up your money, and read about building computers until then. then you will be a pro with a show
