First thing I have to say. I do believe it is against the forum rules to post about, and defintely against the laws of most countries to download programs for free using file sharing software. It harms the creators (supposedly), and is considered theft. I would recommend that you discontinue this activity.

Secondly, with regards to the virus. I have been using the paid version of AVG Internet Security for several months, with no issue. I would recommend that you download the free version to try and remove the virus. Please see the links at the end of my post.

I would only use the free version temporarily, seeing as it only protects against viruses (no firewall, antispyware, online antifraud etc). If you downloaded the internet security on the PC at the moment, it was probably compromised (infected), by the original seeder.

If you did download your current antivirus program, I would recommend getting the full AVG Internet Security. It's a bargain, at £29.99 a year, or £39.99 for two years. You get full protection against anything the web can throw at you, with great customer support, in the event that something should go wrong.

I would really advise to stop downloading illegal softwares (or any other copyrighted works for that matter) by using things like torrents or LimeWire. Firstly, advertising that you do online will mean you are more likely to be caught, and you might be banned from using this forum as (as far as I know), it is against the rules to post about downloading illegal software. Also, if using downloaded programs, you are more likely to have usernames and passwords stolen, as well as bank details and personal information (including your saved documents and files).

When installing AVG, please first disconnect from the internet, uninstall/disable any current antivirus software, and then begin the installation.

Hope this helps eradicate your "pest".

  2. By posting this information, I am not trying to undermine copyright law or prevent people from being caught when downloading files illegally. I am simply stating the facts, and that it is wrong to take these actions.
  3. I do not wish my account to be banned on this forum for discussing the downloading of illegal softwares. This topic has been discussed here to try and help out a fellow computer user who is having problems :D

AVG might get rid of it, but also post a hijackthis log and we can with the good stuff and make sure it is completely gone.

If after that you are still infected, please post a Hijackthis log. To post a Hijackthis log, please do the following:

* Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
* Double click on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
* By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
* Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Additional Tasks dialogue.
* Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
* Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
* At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
* Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
* Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
* Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
* DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

We will look at your log as soon as we see it, and give you further instructions on how to fix your computer. Most of the time it will involve downloading more programs that will either give us logs to locate the malware or delete those malware.

Once you have posted a HJT Thread DO NOT make any changes to your PC unless the advisor helping you has instructed you to do so!

The MS Antivirus is a pain in the back side to get rid of, if you can get rid of it at all. The best bet you can go for is to just re-install windows and get some protection on the system.

Personally, I believe the best to use is AVG, and I also run Advance Windows Care every few days.

Hope I helped.

To get rid of MS Antivirus, google search Malware Bytes Anti Bytes, run it and post the log, that'll get rid of that problem.
