Help w/ Graphics Card

I'm trying to install this ATI Radeon 9200 (PCI) on my comp. I am following the manual and it says to first remove the current dis[lay drivers. The one it currently has, Intel(R) 573EP V9x DF PCI Modem can't be removed. I keep clicking the Change/Remove button and the hour glass shows up for a second and the Add or Remove Programs box just blinks. Also, when I remove the Intel(R) 2 Driver and the Intel(R) PRO Network Adapters and Drivers and restart the computer, the little wizard says that they are new software and the are automatically installed again.. What do I do? Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

those are modem drivers that you are trying to move... they have nothing to do with your current video hardware. i dont know why you are trying to remove network devices when you are installing a graphics card.

judging by the amount of intel equipment you are mentioning you need to find something like intel display something or other. remove that and then you should be able to install your ati card fine

Hmm.. those are all of the Intel stuff that is there to change or remove. I don't see and Intel(R) Display or anything.

ok... have a look in your system properties and go to deivce manager... in the tree diagram of your system look for display adaptors and remove whatever hardware is listed in there.... you should be fine once you have done this

Ok, I did that. The only thing that shows up there is the Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller. Whenever I uninstall it and restart the computer, the wizard says that it has been detected and it gets installed again. -.-

is your new graphics card actually plugged into your system yet?

if not perform the remove hardware procedure as i detailed before and shut the computer down, turn off the power to the system and install your new card, plug your monitor into your new card... go into the bios and go to the advanced chipset properties, then look for an option similar to init. display first and set it to PCI.... exit the bios and save the changes, when your system boots again you should be able to install the drivers for your new card.
you may get a prompt to install the graphics for your old card but your new one is what you need the drivers for

Ok it installed and everythig. After it restarted, after the loading screen that says Windows XP, the screen went black and the green light on the moniter turned yellow. I pressed the buttons of the moniter and it said it was in Power Save mode and it also said to press and kew on the keyboard or to move the mouse. I did this but the screen stayed the same. Whatever I type though is typed but the screen it black. I moved the monitor connection back to the computer to see the screen right now. Any idea how to solve this?

ok.... install the driver for you new card as it is obviously working.

you need to look around in your bios to find a way to disable the on board graphics (the one that was already there)... if you cant find anything go into your device manage in windows and find your old device, right-click it and click disable, then reboot your system... your new card should be the only graphics card then
