Hi,

I've got a HP T5000 and i'm trying to set it up to use an application.

There's a problem though, i've brought it home to set it up... but I don't have access. I have the local admin login, but i'm still unable to install any applications or do practically anything.

I'm guessing this is because of the lock down GPO that was applied on the network.

How can I get around this? I've started off XP embedded downloading from the MS site.. but it's taking soooo long to download. The easiest fix would be reinstalling the O/S.. but I need to get this done tonight and the download will only complete at about 5am!!

HEEEEELLLLLPPPP!!!!!!!

The machine is most likely bound to your directory/domain and will need to be released from it.

I would speak with your administrator about getting this application installed.

i am the administrator. lol

What i'm saying is.. i'm not driving into work to get this sorted... i'd prefer to do it from the comfort of my own home.. get the app installed.. plug it in when i get to work in the morning and it'll be all up and running.

Another alternative is to just reinstall the O/S.. but the only place i can find to download XPE is the microsoft site.. and it's taking hours to download

Your local admin account must be managed then. I don't really work with a lot of windows machines anymore so I am a bit rusty on it, however if you authenticate via local account you inherit all those local rights, unless the group policy is stored on the machine.

Try deleting the following folder and see if it works

C:\Windows\System 32\Group policy

You probably should reboot after deleting that folder
