Hi,
First things first I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to hardware, so excuse my ignorance if I can't answer all the spec questions when it comes to whats inside the case. I was given the pc (custom build) by a friend a while back which is making it a little tricky to figure out what to do about getting a replacement psu.
The thing basically died on me... and after a few tests (including the paperclip test) I'm pretty sure its the psu.
My question is what should I get as a replacement? The unit I removed is an 'Antec Neo HE500'. This psu has been discontinued so a straight forward replacement is out of the question.
From what I can gather I need two 6-pins to go into the graphics card, and most of the psu's I've looked at tend to only have one... also most of the stuff thats popped up online while looking for a solution has pointed towards the thing having to be 'sli ready' I do remember on the boot screen seeing sli in the product name (asus board) and nvidea card.
Anyway from my knowledge its a pretty old pc, I mean it still holds up ok and can handle most new games without any problems... but I'm not looking to spend alot to keep it running as I will be upgrading soon. So any advice or recommendations would be much appreciated.
Sorry about the length of the post, just wanted to get all the information out so as not to waste time.
Tl;dr: Cheap replacement for a 'Antec Neo HE500' PSU
Cheers!
