I have an old desktop---an HP Pavilion 510N. I ran the Crucial system scanner and it says I need this:
SDRAM, PC133 • CL=2 • Unbuffered • Non-parity • 133MHz • 3.3V • 32Meg x 64
to add an extra 256MB ram for a total of 512 (max the computer can take). Crucial gives me an option to buy this on their site and is guaranteed to work, but it's expensive at $50 after shipping. What I'm wondering is can I buy this elsewhere (such as Ebay) by focusing on just certain aspects of the above memory? Such as, can I buy a stick that is just advertised as SDRAM, PC133, 133MHz? Or does it all matter? If so, where do I look for cheaper memory?
I appreciate any help you're willing to give me on this. My computer is sloooowwwwww and I'm too poor to buy a new one!
