Help with bad performance

Hey i just bought http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883227069 and i must say it is HORRIBLE! my FPS in crysis is actually SPF (seconds per frame) and my average FPS in counter-strike source is around 60 when I should be able to play crysis smoothly and totally dominate my FPS in counter-strike source. can anyone tell me why my brand new PC is performing so badly?

the 9800 series aren't all that great from what I've heard.

Well since the 9800series is so new it has Alot of bugs. Just wait for newer drivers/patches or forceware versions to be released.

but ive seen people stress test the exact same card i have and get 120+ FPS (not needed i know) in counter-strike source and around 30 FPS in crysis on high settings. i have to play on low to get 20. I think I got jipped with the motherboard i didnt look at it i only saw all the other pretty specs and overlooked it its a pretty shitty board.

Also, make sure there isn't any bloatware installed like a norton trial or so on. Check your background processes for things that don't need to run.

Yeah i just checked i had around 60 useless things running in the backround i took them all off in msconfig and im going to restart and try again ill post the results.
