Hey all,

I was wondering if you all could help me build a good computer for around 800$, its not really a gaming computer per se but I will probably play some games on it (IL2, ArmA).

I need it to be dual core, have 2 gbs of ram, everything else is more flexible, ideally Id like to get a 8800gts-320mb but a 8600gts will suffice for my needs.

I DON'T need a case, sound card, psu, optical drives, speakers, monitor, keyboard/mouse.

Edit:

Quick build I put together, about 680 shipped.

Same concept... little nice I think. What do you think?

I love my AMD processor but if you go AMD get a nicer board than that... spend between 100-150 I would say. ASUS makes nice boards mine is everything I wanted. But if you're willing to go all the way to your budget you could go quad core intel.

I would definatly stick with Intel. The 600+ is a huge power hog.

Your choice of processor is great, and good for your budget.

I recommended an excellent board, especially for the price.

This is a great board as well.

No need to get defensive... just a couple things I feel like you should get are boards with 2 express 16 slots and an external sata port... I like that second board you just posted up

Im probably going to stick with intel this time around, I've been poking around trying to see when the new amd quad cores are going to come out but cant really get any good info on them so Id rather stick with what info I have at hand.

For the boards, I prefer regular ATX rather than m-ATX. Unless theres going to be absolutely no difference in functionality and space management b/t them.

Also would it be better to go with the q6600 and a 8600gts or should I get a good c2d and a 8800gts-320. Im wondering if the 8800 will be able to run bioshock when it comes out. Though I guess maybe waiting for the g9x cores from nvidia and pci-e 2.0 might be smarter at least for future upgrades.
