Help With Buying Windows XP 64 Bit Machine Please

I'm going to get a new computer in a month or so (that's when my company will buy it for me). My primary use for this computer will be music software, which supports a 64-bit logic engine. So my guess is that I'd have to go with an AMD x2 or whatever it's called processor. How much RAM is good these days, 2GB? Where can I get the best deal on a 20"+ LCD? Probably don't want to spend more than $600-700 on the monitor.

I must buy a complete system for my company to pay for it. I cannot build a computer. If anyone is aware of vendors who build these types of systems, help would be appreciated.

Oh, and it has to be QUIET. Shhhhhh....

Also, I think I read the new Intel chips are coming out in a few months and will be 40% faster. Should I wait? What's the release date?

Thanks,

Michael

some lesser main stream companies are such as http://www.cyberpowerinc.com or http://www.ibuypower.com
they both have good prices and are pretty reputable as far as I know.

Otherwise more mainstream (which I don't recommend) HP is the best I've found but they do install a bunch of useless crap that you might just want to reinstall windows to rid yourself of.

Hope that helps for pricing at least.

Yes,

I just can't buy pieces and put them together myself.
These suggestions have been really helpful.
Certainly better prices at those places than Alienware!
And I can't get the combo I want at big shops like Compaq/Dell etc.
