I am going to be building a desktop computer for the first time.

I have already bought a Micro ATX case.

I made a list on Newegg of what i would like in the computer but not 100% sure if it will all fit in there and work properly.

My limit i would like to go to is $500.00 Tops.

I did not add a sound card in the list,I have a qestion.Do you have to have a sound card in a desktop pc?

You don't need a sound card, since most motherboards come with a built in sound on the board. Are you looking to get the best parts you can for under 500 dollars? Would you be using it for gaming?

The CPU literally sucks. You can get heaps more performance/price. Dual-core is almost a "must", and also I would recommend Intel. Even if you insist on sticking to AMD, you can get a dual-core that performas a lot better for its price.

You can pick up a dual-core processor from AMD for only $21 more with the same clock speed as the single core. Costs just a little more but will perform heaps better than the single core. AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200+ Brisbane 2.7GHz Dual Core Processor - $77.00
