Help with deleting dvd files

I'm new to technology. Not everyone can dedicate their time and energy to understanding the complexities of technology. My question may seem stupid, but here it goes. I burned some home videos onto a dvd, the thing was, I burned the wrong videos. I was wondering if there was a program or something I could do to format it, and if something is finalized can you somehow delete anything?

If you didn't use DVD-RW disks then you can't delete the data and start over. DVD-RW disks are rewriteable disks and can be used over and over to a point. DVD-R and DVD+R are not rewriteable disks and can only be used once.
