Hi!
I'm currently looking for a laptop computer for my first year of college in the fall, and I must admit that I don't know a lot about what makes a computer good. Hence, I am asking you kind people for assistance.
I don't want anything particularly fancy; I'm not looking to use the laptop for gaming, DVDs, high-bandwidth downloads, or anything that would use up a lot of memory. I'm going to be living at home while in school, so I'll also have a home computer on which to do such things. Primarily, I want this laptop for a word processor on which I can take notes in class and type up essays. I'll probably accumulate a fair amount of Microsoft Word documents, but that's probably it. I'd like internet access with a reasonably quick speed, but as I said, I won't be downloading much of anything really.
As a result, I'm wondering what kind of computer I should be looking for. How many GBs would really be necessary? MB? MHz? I want something in the $500-$700 range if possible. I don't really need something flashy or new; if it's a bit big and bulky, I don't care, as long as it runs well.
Keeping that in mind, what brands should I look at? Any suggestions? Any ideas on where I might get such laptops?
Thanks so much, everyone!
