I recently bought a GTS250 and saw in the box a HD adapter. I read on a site somewhere that all pc games with a very high resolution were effectively playing in HD. I'm not sure if this is true because surely you need HD cables to be playing in HD?
Anyway my TV has HDMI support so I was wondering if anyone knew how I could game in 1080i. Also if it were to work, would that put a lot of strain on my pc? (my cpu is only 2.2 duel)

thanks!

No, you don't need special cables to game in "HD" because "HD" resolutions are nothing special on a PC. Many of us have 1680x1050 monitors, which is not much less than the 1920x1080 "HD" resolution.

As for gaming on your HDTV, it should be fine. If your TV has HDMI, you will just need a DVI to HDMI adapter since most GTS250's only have DVI. It will put more strain on the PC, but most games will still run well. I sometimes play Team Fortress 2 on my 1080p TV and it runs beautifully.

just to point out I'm using a HDTV as my monitor so it also has a HDMI port.

Right well like you said in the first bit, my TV is also 1680x1050 (it doubles up as a monitor so it has a HDMI port). I also have a DVI to HDMI cable but it only displays on the lowest res, which clearly isn't HD.
So it playing in 1680x1050 the best picture I can get? Because the cable confuses me. =(

If your tv is Full HD(1080p)then you would want to be running at a res of 1920x1080, with would be "HD".
