So, i have a u.s. robotics modem, and im typing this from my computer right now, except ive only been able to connect at a speed of 9800 (9.8 kbp/s)...i know that its not the modem, and i cant figure out if theres a way to change the maximum speed that i can connect at.

i havent installed the drivers, it seems to be working fine without them (mostly because i couldnt figure out how to install them). there are only windows .exe files on the installation cd, butin themanual it says the installer should start automatically for linux users on 2.3 or higher (im running PClinuxoS, which is 2.6) but it doesnt start automatically. CAN ANYBODY HELP ME AT ALL???? because i cnt figure out how to get the damn modem to work at 56 kbp/s!!!!

except i dont think that one works for pclinuxos (the 3com driver)...i think im just royally screwed and need to wait for somebody to write the drivers for it.

Linux is fun! Don't you just love chasing all over for generic drivers to get things working?! Are the drivers for the typical 56K dialup modem? XP has those included with it. 3Com provides drivers for Linux after you agree to the GNU licensing agreement seen at http://support.3com.com/infodeli/tools/nic/linux.htm

You will need to know your exact model number to find the correct set of Linux drivers for your modem at http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/...sort=prodnum&fileid=5&prodcat=all&fname=Linux Give some of these a try to see if you get connected properly.
