Please help.
Im new to Building computers and want to give it a try.
Im taking my time and reading up on it and thought I would love the challenge.
Im stuck on chosing a motherboard and processor.
Could you please help me with my choice.
I would like a real awesome motherboard and processor that I can add to if i need more ram etc..
I want to run software such as Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Encore as well as the latest games.
I already have a Seagate Barracuda 500GB 7200.9rpm sata2 harddrive so i want the motherboard to be compatible with this. I also want to add about 300gb more by adding another harddrive.
I want something that is going to give me heaps of power and be able to run 2 video cards so I can hook up three screens. I also would like to know a good soundcard for sound editing.
What Motherboard would you recommend?
What Processor would you reccomend?
What video cards would you recommend?
What sound card would you recommend?
Also I have a 530watt PSU so I would like to know if this isnt to bigger PSU.
Any help appreciated.:D

Your motherboard should be a tower -- alowing multiple extensions for RAM and varios cards. Your motherboard should also be AGP or PCI-E.
Your processor should be atleast an AMD or P4. We all know about the newer 64 bit ones, but I wouldn't trust them yet :P
Gey a GeForce 4 or something. It should be AGP or PCI-Express, as PCI is rather slow (to current standards).
The sound card . . hmnn . . Im not sure, it depends what you are wanting to do with it. Most sound cards work just fine for, well, listening to sound. Are you wanting to record music with it or anything?

Hope this helps, I don't know any specific brands or models though :)

For starters, dont post things that you dont have any information on.

For a motherboard, I would look towards an AM2 ATX motherboard. This would be a very good board, it has 6x SATAII ports, and is SLI ready.

Depending on your budget, i would go with the AMD X2 line. If your on a low budget, try the X2 3800+, if your on a fairly high budget go with either the X2 4600+ / X2 4800+.

Again, it depends on your budget. For a low budget, i would recommend the 7600GT. Or if your on a high budget, i would either get the 7900GT or the new 7950 GX2.

For the sound card, I would go with an X-Fi. The Xtreme-Music for low budgets, or the X-Fi Platinum/Elite for higher budgets.

good post omega, but we dont know much about your psu youll have to tell us the amount of amps on the 12 volt rails. maybe if you post a brand name and model we can find out more for you. 530 should be able to run SLI it just depends if its a quality psu or not.

Thanks for that Omega. I'll look into some of those.
The PSU I have is a Thermal Take. Heres the manufactures link.

Hopefully it is a decent quality PSU.
Your welcome.

As for the power supply, it would be sufficient for a low-mid range card, but if you want to get a high end CPU/Video card, your going to need a new power suply with dual +12V rails, and at least 30A.
