Help with new CPU

Hi yesterday I bought a new game the Call of Duty Black Ops when I tried to run it the game would suddenly freeze in a match and I would have to turn my computer off. I checked if I had the right stuff in the computer by looking at the website Canyourunit and it showed that my processor right now ( AMD athlon 64 x2 dualcore processor ) dosn't meet the requirments.
I'm using a M2N-SLI motherboard ( NOT DELUX ) and I looked on asus website and it said that my motherboard can run AM2 & AM+2 CPU's http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=FsG6bN2HsOMpwLxD

I'm also using a ATI Radeon HD 4600 Series for a graphic card & my OP is windows XP home edition.

I'm not good on computers and I would be very happy if I got some help finding a good and not to expensive CPU for my motherboard!

But are you sure I can use both of those processors ?
I don't think my computer can run AM3 processors.
I don't know what processor im using right now but its a athlon 2000+ I think.. ( its a dualcore )

If you look on that link you gave, look for the cpu support list tab, your board supports a few am3 cpu's with a bios update, however it is a beta bios.
 
So where could I get these BIO updates then ? Are they hard to install ?
Sorry for asking so much but I'm not that good on computers..

Also, is it hard to insert the new processor and remove the old one ?
Anything I should think about ?
 
If you've never done one before I really wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. You go to the asus website to get the bios update under downloads for that board. As far as replacing the processor, you have to apply new thermal paste and clean off the old paste from the heatsink before applying new.

Do you have any computer savvy friends that have done this before?
 
Yes I know a few people but its only one of them thats 100% sure that he can do it !
I might take help from him then to make this upgrade.
Which of these processors would you recommend for playing new games like call of duty black ops ?
