Help with Norton AntiVirus and Spywarenuker please !!!

Ok I just re installed my norton antivirus as it absically buggered up, and it searched for possible updates and installed them, then there was more but 1 of the files always en****ers and error when instaling and says.
Windows XP 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2

Common Client Core 1.0.2

LiveUpdate was not able to complete this update.

Thats all it says. What is going on.

And also I want to re install spyware Nuker as it is in my opinion the best spyware programme I have ever used but I cannot access any website to do with spyware nuke on my computer but can on my dads what is happening there, could it be spyware stopping me. :confused: .
 
Anyone this is really getting me down. Im thinking of somehow transfering all my programmes to somewher maybe a removable hard drive and there about £100. Then formatting my whole computer and putting it back to factory settings. Please help cos this will take alot of time and money.
 
Well I got Norton working took some time though. I had to uninstall it and service pack 2 which took 1hr 1/4 then re-installed sp2 anouther 1 hr 30min. Finally re-installed norton and downloaded all its updates since 03. But I still have a problem viewing lots of sites which are prodominately to do with spyware. Anyone got any ideas yet. :confused:
 
Thanks Dave I wont get spybot (I had it and did not like it, and alot of my troubles started after having it) also I given up on free software as when you pay I find the quality is alot better. But that Microsoft stuff sounds good I will give it a look, I would trust anything from them.
