Help with program, please (if possible).

I have a program that I really like (Lumapix Photofusion) that I really like, which has recently began acting up on me. It had been running just fine up until about a few weeks ago. Now, it will open up - and function as it should - upon first opening after a PC bootup. Once it closed it will not open again unless I shut the computer down, and boot it back up again. No matter what I have tried, it is always about a single instance of operation, unless (as mentioned) the computer is shut down and rebooted. I have visited the Lumapix forum, but there had been no help for this. I had also contacted the manufacturer, but they are no longer supporting earlier versions of the program (my version is 4.5) since their release of v5.

I wonder if anyone might know what this problem may be due to, and would have any ideas as to how it may be defeated.

Advanced thanks.

When you close it out, check task manager to make sure that the process is actually not listed in task manager. Sometimes you can close programs but the actual process for some reason doesn't get removed from task manager.

Have you done any system maintenance lately?

Scanned for malware?
Downloaded and ran Ccleaner?
Defragged the hard drive?

Thanks for your input.

The Task Manager didn't reveal any ongoing processes, in reference to the concerned program. I have run CCleaner as well as Malwarebytes (the latter took the covers off of seven undesirables on my system). Tonight, I will run my defragger - as I have some computer work that I must attend to right now.

I did just try my program again and, as before, it suffers the very same ills. After defragging my system I will see how the program behaves, at that time. If it is STILL presenting itself in like manner I will just have to chalk the matter up to it being a done deal.

That would be a shame because I really like this program. Availing myself of the new v5 wouldn't, necessarily, mean that I would be able to hurdle this present condition. So, I would have to look away from that route.

I had forgotten that the defragging process would not have prevented me from getting any work done, so I have it in process now.

What about reinstalling the program?

I have done that more than a few times, but all to no avail.

A while back I had to format & restore my system. Before that, all was fine with this program. Now, something has been knocked out of whack, and I don't know how to counter the condition. It (the program) isn't one of my 'need to have' programs (such as Lightroom, or Photoshop), but I did really like it.
