im in the process of upgrading some computers from Microsoft Office 2003 to 2007 ultimate.
my big mistake was not backing up the email/contacts on the computer before i started, and sure enough there is a problem. i got it all installed ok but when i try to load outlook i get this msg.

"Business Contact Manager has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

it also says it is in the middle of configuring/updating the old email info into the new software.

i cannot get outlook to load now. and i dont want to just uninstall and restart because i believe that the contact and email info is still on the computer. if i uninstall and reinstall it will prolly run ok, ya. but i NEED to save the email/contacts.

does anyone have any idea what i can do ?

NO ONE knows???

actually, sence i use cox to get my email. if i just reinstall will i get all my stuff back? i.e. are they stored on there server even after i send recieve and open them?

ok over the weekend i manually went in and deleted some of the main folders for office, in order to make room (small harddrive) for the reinstall because i was ( and still am) getting a message that says "setup cannot delete because of a corrupt or unavailible file, pls insert disk and run setup". i have already gotten enough space cleared on the hard drive and have reinstalled office. i am still getting that message and also this one "

Managed MAPI service catastrophic failure
could not initialize clr
could not load file or assembly ' iris.mapi. messagestore' or on of its dependencies.
the system cannot find the file specified."

that message comes up from the time i load outlook untill i close it. it keeps popping up time after time.

Outlook keeps personal folder settings in the following folder by default: C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Local Settings\Microsoft\Outlook. The AppData folder is hidden by default.

To view hidden folders, click Tools> Folder Options> View> and select "Show hidden files and folders." These instructions are for XP. You can also download a tool from MS that allows you to backup personal folders here.
