Help with Samsung Netbook.

Hi Everyone,

I recently just bought a used Samsung Netbook but the person hasn't wiped any of there info, files etc off the computer. It is still signed in with there name and I am to scared to log them off just incase I won't be able to get back in to change anything. I would like to know how I can get the computer back to the original settings as if it was brand new out of the box so it no longer has his log in info - if that makes sense - I just am hopeless with the technical side of computer and don't have a clue how to do it.

I do have all the manuals and disks it that helps.

Thank you

If you are in admin mode then you can change any settings, I assume that you need the password that is required for log in, to change it you need know the old password, ask the old owner of this laptop for it.

If the disks you mentioned you have are recovery disks then you could use them to restore the netbook back to the factory settings. We would need more info such as what model netbook you have, what OS and what disks you have to be able to help you with that.

You may not need to do anything so drastic. You say "It is still signed in with there name". It's possible that the account that it is signed in on is an Admin account. If so, you could create a new account with the name you prefer (make this new account an Admin). Log off from their account and log back in with your new Admin account. Then you could delete their account. You will be given the option to delete the data for their account, say yes to that. When done you will have the netbook with the OS and applications in tact with your account in place and their account and data gone.

Yes I do have the recovery disk and also I have the system software media disk. The model is Samsung NC10 and is Windows XP.

So how would I go about creating a new account and making it the Admin account?

Thanks for all your help.
