My details:
Elitegroup 661FX-M mobo
P4 @ 3.0GHz
1Gb RAM (2 x 512Mb DDR400 400Mhz)
128Mb ATI Radeon 9800 Pro

Please help with upgrading the mobo!

I have an Elitegroup 661FX-M motherboard. I wanted to see about upgrading my mobo to something much newer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. But it has to be able to accept everything that are current on it at the moment... basically a straight forward change over from the current mobo to a new one.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice.

What is the point?
You upgrade the MB would probably new RAM. And I don't think new MB will make much difference with the old one.

Pretty much echoing what daisymtc said.

It's a socket 478 board. There's really no point in upgrading just the motherboard as all new Intel CPUs use LGA775. Any motherboard upgrade that is worth it would require a new board, CPU and RAM at the very least, probably video card as well unless you get one with onboard to tide you over (or if you don't need a high power video card)

OK thanks for the replies.

I wanted to change it to narrow down a power down problem I've been having for a while. Basically, the PC keeps booting back up after shut down (acting like 'restart').
