Help with windows icons

Hey guys, this is driving me NUTS.......
does anyone know why my hard drive icon has changed?

I've heard that in pirated copys of Vista is some file missing and it's causing that error...
Is your copy original?

Im running a Original version of xp pro, thats just my theme.

Try:

start -> run -> sfc /scannow
and
chkdsk /p /r -> after you start your computer in Recovery Console

Let us know if that worked...

It's maybe a problem with your theme. I had a theme and when I uninstalled it my folder icons stayed the same as with that theme. Maybe your theme has a problem or something. Was that there before you installed your theme?

yeah it was there before i put the theme in....

Now i have a bigger problem,when i double click (c instead of getting on the hard drive, it goes into search. Please help me i hate this!!

!!I'm not sure that that will work in Vista so before you try that back up your system (registry).!!

File > Save as... > change Save as Type to All Files > and save as: fix.reg.
Run that file (double click ) > accept > restart computer.

It's working perfectly under XP. I never tried that in Vista.
But with backup you should be ok.

Thanks Subtle, it fixed the drive going into search.... (that was driving me nuts).. Now just the icon But I can live with that if i have to..

Try that:
Start > Run > first: REGSVR32 /u shell32.dll

Then:
REGSVR32 shell32.dll


P.S.
Are you using something like Partition Magic?

But still the icon problem.

No i haven't got partition magic..

i think it could of happend when i installed a demo game from EA need for speed underground 2 , so i uninstalled it and no go.
