Help With Wireless Internet!! :-(

Christ this is annoying, my internet has been extremely slow lately. I have DSL with a wireless adapter on my desktop computer. One of these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315041 . This morning I got fed up and decided to do some real investigating. I did speed tests on both my computer and another laptop in the house at equal distance from the router. My computer's download speed was .7 Mbps and .42 Mbps upload. The laptop was at 1.67 Mbps down and .43 up. I did the test through http://www.speedtest.net/ and it has a loading bar that shows how much of the download/upload is done. My computer was not going smoothly. The laptop was. Mine would completely stop downloading for a few seconds at a time and did this multiple times throughout the test. This makes sense because my webpages will do the same thing: load a little, completely stop (sometimes until the connection times out) or keep going a while later. I need to fix this. It doesn't seem to be on the router or modem's end. Could it be that my wireless adapter is failing? I will gladly get a new one if this might be the problem. My computer hasn't slowed down or started acting funny and I did a virus/spyware scan so I don't think it's a virus. Please Help!!! I am going insane!!

Haha I feel like an idiot. I think that worked. I have always wondered what makes a driver stop working. It worked fine for years, I didn't update any other software on my computer. Oh well, thanks for the help.

I take that back, it didn't work. Now pretty much every day my internet fails. It sometimes will work fine but often times when I start up the computer it will see a wireless network but be unable to connect to it. Sometimes it will connect after windows resetting it. I checked connections and everything is plugged in nice & tight. I updated the firmware to the latest version. Could it be another software issue or is it time to get a new wireless adapter?
